Are you among the 95% of network marketing leaders who constantly hear (or say) the same words: “I don’t have time,” “My people aren’t engaged,” “If I’m not with the team, nothing happens”? If so, you are likely building your team in completely the wrong way.
Because the brutal truth is: if your team doesn’t operate without you, you don’t have a team. You have a hobby.
Key Lesson: The True Role of a Leader
A true network marketing team is not a group of people you have to drag behind you. These are not individuals who only act when you push them. It is a group that collaborates, where every member has a clearly defined role and knows what to do.
As a leader, you are not there to do all the work—you are there for:
- Managing the team and inspiring members
- Training new people and sharing knowledge
- Teaching the right attitudes and habits that members emulate
Jacek Walkiewicz once said: “To set others on fire, you must be burning yourself.” If you want to inspire others, you must first be inspired yourself. If you want to ignite a vision in the minds of others, you must first have your own vision.
4 Steps to Building a Team That Operates Without You
- Vision and Purpose — what exactly do you want? How much do you want to earn? Who do you want to help? Who do you want to work with?
- Action Plan — how will you achieve it? How many people do you need? What should your structure look like?
- Strategy and Tools — what techniques and materials will you use in working with the team?
- Selling the Vision — how will you pass this vision on to your people so they see the value in it for themselves?
A key element is also the pace of work. Business loves speed. I always say that even on a bicycle, if you go too slowly, you will fall over. It’s the same in business.
